Asbestos Exposure Medical
From a medical point of view, asbestos exposure can be easily treated if it only results in minor exposure health effects issues. Asbestos fibers resulting after the production of asbestos cement will most likely attack the lungs of asbestos workers. Any number of asbestos related diseases might be developed, but also, the exposure can prove harmless for a few people.
Asbestos exposure medical testing
Asbestos exposure medical testing of people that have been exposed to different amounts of asbestos over different periods of time is conducted since the late 80’s in order to provide doctors with an insight of what goes after the exposure.
The ATSDR, OSHA and EPA (leading authorities in cancer prevention) have joined their efforts to provide the knowledge available today for doctor’s world wide. Although doctors know how any of the asbestos related illnesses start and how they develop, they find it difficult to treat because of a number of factors:
- Mesothelioma cancer spreads very rapidly and consumes to many of the bodies’ resources
- The same disease causes symptoms that cannot told apart from those of other diseases, making the cancer difficult to detect and diagnose
- Asbestosis and other related disease are difficult to treat because of the fact that the tiny asbestos fibers cause to much damage to internal organs and it creates the difficulty of extracting it from the tissue, without further damaging it
- Pleural diseases are a little less difficult to treat because the immune system reacts and starts to fight on its’ own, needing only to be sustained by a good nutrition and some pills
Asbestos exposure and after diagnosis
Diagnosing asbestos diseases require certain test to be performed. After the diagnosis has been agreed on, asbestos exposure treatment can commence, but not before testing the patients’ reaction to certain medication and therapies.
Asbestos exposure and medication for conditions developed
Most of the asbestos related diseases developed after asbestos exposure can be treated using only medication, without the need of surgery or any kind of sophisticated treatment method. Specific diseases and patients require specific medications and doses.
Asbestos exposure genetic
Although several test and researches have been conductive, none of them were very conclusive in this matter. Doctors believed that asbestos diseases cannot be transmitted genetically until they have seen the first cases of children under the age of ten (the minimum time for mesothelioma to appear) suffering from asbestos exposure cancer.
